The economic impact of student loans

This is the  ARGUMENT TOPIC PROPOSAL

The economic impact of student loans

Thesis statement

Through extensive research and analysis of data, I intend to argue the thesis that student loans adversely affect the economic well-being of many students after they graduate from school.

Why I am interested in this topic

My topic argument proposal is on the issue of student loans. For many undergraduate and graduate students, student loans are an unpleasant fact of their education. The high cost of education in the United States of America has left many students with little finance options (Rothstein and Rouse). Significant portions of university students graduate with more than $20000 of student loan debt. It is important to research into and analyze the impact that these loans have on the economic well-being of students as they pursue their careers; this is a pertinent topic because it affects a high number of fellow students and colleagues that I know.

Why it is important that you learn more about this topic

Researching into and looking into the economic impact of student loans will help to enlighten the many students studying under student loans on the impact that these loans will have on their future. Knowing about the long-term economic consequences of student loans helps prospective students to evaluate whether student loans are a viable option to finance their studies (Avery and Turner).

How and where you plan to research this topic

To gain adequate research material on the research topic, I will use the Google search engine to search for materials and data. I will also use the campus online library to find journals that relate to the topic. To ensure that the quality of sources I use is of the highest level, I will only use peer reviewed material and data.

Target audience for your topic

The target audience for the topic is the large student population in the United States of America. The student population is the most affected by student loans thus the issue is tailored towards them. The topic is also targeted towards education policymakers and other education stakeholders.
