Full Title of Paper in Title Case Not Boldface

The first paragraph of the paper starts directly after the title without any extra space just like we have done above. This will be your introduction to your paper, and it does not need an additional heading. The first sentence in every paragraph is indented.

Save a copy of this document as your master template, and use it for every paper you write at Cornerstone. If you do, you will find that following APA format rules is a piece of cake because all the formatting for margins, headers, titles, line spacing, paragraph spacing, reference page hanging indents, and subheadings have all been done for you! Each new paragraph will automatically indent for you without your needing to use the tab.

Do not try to replicate these settings in another paper; rather, replace the template text in this document with your own words and save it with a new file name. When replacing text in this template, do not delete the paragraph marks, or you will lose the formatting (e.g. centering or boldface) associated with the text. NOTE: Be sure to set your paragraph marks to show in the View Options. Don’t forget to change your header on both the title page and first page of text.

The only headings needed in a two to three-page paper are the title and conclusion. Additional headings can be used in longer papers, but generally no more than one for every page or two. The References page will automatically start on a new page as long as you do not delete the page break that has been provided for you. Several example references are provided for you that you will need to delete (Remember to keep at least one paragraph marker at the end; otherwise, you may lose the formatting that is built in). The important thing is that all your references must be in alphabetic order by the first word in the reference entry. List every source that you cited in your paper but no more.
