The future of detecting and treating gastric cancer

IMPORTANT NOTE: that thesis for a Literature review.

Project description:

Gastric cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK and has a particularly poor prognosis due to it

often being detected in advanced stages. Traditional chemotherapy is relatively ineffective and is often used as a

palliative option. This study would examine new molecular treatments and also screening programmes to aid early

detection, asking if these represent advances that could improve the currently very bleak prognosis for this disease in the

UK.

Techniques involved: Library literature based search of relevant Scientific literature

Project outputs: A modern consideration of gastric cancer and how advances in drug development, molecular

understanding and potential screening avenues might improve current survival statistics.
