The answers
The Implications of Smoking in Campus
1. Forming an advocacy group on smoking prevention and its effects in campus to sensitize students on the dangers and effects of smoking by requesting them to join in the fight against smoking chains or encouraging them to look out for smokers and report on their behavior to the group which will in turn report to the administration.
2. In this new plan, there will be more practical approach in dealing with the menace of smoking, it will involve;
• Formation of a strong advocacy group complete with all internal structures from the chair to the lowest member
• The plan will execute its policies by requesting for free membership of students in an effort to bring in more people on board
• For purposes of those who may wish to participate indirectly, the group will offer a suggestion box that students may drop information on smoking in campus, for further action by the group.
• The advocacy group will then work with the administration and relevant authorities in addressing this problem.
3. In the implementation of this new approach, it is expected that the project will have broader membership and publicity which will in turn not only facilitate its mission but offer several insights from the members. The basis of this approach is address smoking in campus head-on.
4. The mission and vision of mitigation of smoking on campus will remain the same but intensive lobbying for restrictions of smoking will be pursued.
5. Generally, the people expected to aid this project are students and the community at large who feel agitated by unconventional smoking. Since there are smokers within the group, it is important to note that they may try to challenge this movement and thereby creating hostility.
6. The group will focus on reassuring the students that it is better to have a safer environment than air polluted by smoking by pointing out to adverse effects it has even on non-smokers.
7. By pursuing a more direct participation of the students, the medium of communication will be shortened since it will be on a personal basis on designated days. The students will be requested to seek out more information in regards to smoking and rehabilitation.
8. The best approach to confronting a problem is by immediately trying to solve it after understanding it.
