The Museum of Fine Art in the city of Houston is among the biggest art museums found in the United States. In the metropolis, this museum is among the most ancient. I love watching the different artifacts displayed in the museum as they remind me of our city’s history and to a large extent the history of the United States. The inspiring collection of art goes as far back as 6000 years ago. Also found in this museum are works of art of worldwide significance. This is important to the society as well as to my generation due to the travelling presentations organized in Houston annually. The community benefits from interacting with diverse groups of people. Those who attend these exhibitions are drawn from the continents of Europe, Asia, North and South America. There is fairness in these displays in that these exhibitions are picked on the basis of creativity. The theme of the displays adds to and harmonizes the encyclopedic set. A five year phase reveals the past and geographic extent of these collections. The plan and interpretation of both lasting fittings and unique displays fulfills the society’s needs together with the huge Asian-American, Hispanic-American and African-American inhabitants that are found in Houston. Among those who show their work of art in these exhibitions is the Glassel School of Art, the training section of MFAH represents the area and the local faculty as well as the art work of learners.
My generation would gain from visiting this museum as they will see all the masterpieces that were done during the 20th century such as the main associations demonstrated through the paintings of Matisse, Picasso as well as Bourgeois.
The museum also possesses among the biggest compilations of snaps by African- Americans. There is a section of the museum that has been set aside for the African-American’s sculptures. In the museum are attractive sculptures such as good models from as early as 1800 European ceramics. It also contains the Engli from the seventeenth century. The museum has so far served the society of Houston for a period of ninety nine years. Some of the members of my community have gained from this museum as they have been employed to work in the museum in various sections. Students in Houston conduct their researches in the museum. The museum also offers art lessons to kids.
In this way the neighboring community benefits in that they can take their children to these classes. Found in the museum is an institution for visual arts for grown ups. There is a sculpture backyard that offers scenery for open-air carvings. Another advantage to the community also the other people is that the museum has been built in such a way that it is reachable to even those people who are disabled. A lot of parking has been offered and it is free of charge. There is a lot of security at the museum which also serves to attract many different people. Because of this museum, the city of Houston has had many developments such an increase in restaurants and clubs and other social amenities.
The museum is planning to expand its sections which will provide an opportunity for more employment to the local community. The museum is dynamic in terms of culture as it offers a wide range of works of art from diverse cultures. This helps as the local community and the younger generation can learn to appreciate other people’s cultures. This will in turn promote unity and among peoples of diverse regions and cultures. I am pleased that I can access this museum as through it I have learned a lot ranging from historical events to current events. This has made me to develop an interest in the arts and I hope to study works of art in a deeper way.
