Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is for you to assess your time management skills and strategies for success.
Using your notes from the Time Management lecture in class and your personal time management abilities, write an essay based upon the following topics:
Discuss five (5) of the following activities you participate in that take up your time: attending classes, studying, attending campus events, working, eating, sleeping, doing laundry, cleaning your room, traveling, working out, socializing, grooming, watching television, playing video games, surfing the Internet, e-mailing, Facebooking/My Spacing, talking on the phone, or hanging out with friends. Explain how each of the five activities affects the amount of time you spend on them.
Discuss your ability to manage your time this semester: explain why you have been or have not been successful in this area (give at least three reasons).
Discuss what has surprised you that you have spent so much time on or too little time on (at least two activities).
Discuss what steps you plan to take to improve your time management skills (at least two steps).
Discuss what steps you would recommend to other students who are having difficulty managing their time (at least three steps).
Writing Requirements:
Use 12-point Times New Roman font with 1” margins (top and bottom and sides)—do not justify your right margin. (You might have to manually change your margins on your computer.)
Double-space and have at least 2 complete pages.
Include an introduction and conclusion (in addition to your responses to the above five discussion instructions).
Write in paragraph form (theoretically, you should have seven paragraphs). Do not have one long paragraph.
Check your spelling.
Use good grammar (no incomplete sentences, correct use of commas and semi-colons, etc.).
Include your name, the class (UC175), and the date in the upper left or upper right hand corner.
Give your essay a title (not Time Management Essay or Assignment—be creative!).
