She is an English teacher, she teaches adults at the English Language Institute. She has a Masters in Literacy, a Bachelors degree in Educational Administration and she`s been doing this for 8 years.
1) I needed a job right away because my student loans were about to start collecting, so I took any job that would hire me. From then on forward I realized that teaching is something I am good at and would do it for the rest of my career life.
2) To work as an English teacher one must usually have a Bachelor`s Degree in Education and an Advanced teaching degree Masters in Literacy. Most employers prefer to hire candidates with strong communications and computer skills with high levels of enthusiasm.
3) A typical day for me would include, teaching students ways to enhance their writing and reading skills. I help students decide how they can best phrase their ideas. I also have other responsibilities like attending meetings that have to do with what is going on in my department, I also do writing and presenting if I have gone for a conference.
4) I spend most of my day teaching and I also spend a lot of time outside the classroom grading papers, in meetings, travelling and writing.
5) The best part of my job is that I get to work with young adults who have made the choice to dedicate themselves to college work. I have a great time in the classroom with students and each day is different because I am able to have fun with them while they learn. The worst part is dealing with students who think they know it all and don’t see the need for revision. At the end of it all if they succeed then it was all worthwhile.
6) One needs strong communication skills, high levels of patience, ability to work extended office hours, ability to coordinate examinations and monitor students performance, a high level of interpersonal skills to coach and evaluate students and lastly ability to dedicate time out of class to conduct research. (Very true)
7) I use the commanding leadership style, this is whereby I am the only one who has the authority to make decisions because students can be a nuisance sometimes. The downside to this leadership is that it can lower the students morale. (yes students can be a tough lot to deal with)
8) I use my power for the benefit of the school and the students, I assist students individually and i believe the school will benefit for many years to come. (well said)
9) I don’t delegate because I believe in doing my own work but in the near future I would like to allocate my work to someone else, someone better of course. (good)
10) To prepare for this position you need to study hard, do a lot of reading and research, know how to communicate with people and be patient, with all these things all will be smooth. (smooth indeed)
