It entails sampling different cuisines of the country that one is touring. Culinary tourism involves experiencing different foods in the tour country. This is a vital component since it brings a completely new outlook of the tourist experience. This leaves a mark in the tourists as tshey admire the experience and look forward to coming back. Dining is a common aspect for tourists. This is one of the key things that tourist look forward to in addition to climate, scenery and accommodation in the country, they are touring. Entrepreneurs use this strategy of culinary tourism by introducing new foods in their restaurants and hotels. Exotic cuisines attract foreign people who desire to sample and experience new foods. Entrepreneurs, therefore, employ chefs who can cook different cuisines. A restaurant that cooks well will receive more customers than that which does not.

It is not necessarily required for someone to travel to engage in culinary tourism. The main reason to this is that many restaurants across the world are now employing staffs in their hotels and restaurants who know how to cook different cuisines. This saves tourists a lot of time and money because they do not require traveling to sample the cuisines. A good example is the sardine festival. In this event, foreign and local tourists get to sample different cuisines. Local people, therefore, do not have to travel to get the experience. In this event, people get the opportunity to eat the sea urchin, torrone, mullet, chestnuts, or wild boar. Many international hotels such as the Hilton Hotel have a wide range of cuisines. These include Chinese, Ethiopian, Spanish and other cuisines. All people have to do is just ask for the cuisine which the restaurant delivers upon their request.

The study of food and culture has various impacts in people’s lives. The study helps us to appreciate the diversity in the world. There are many different cultures in the world and sampling these cultures would be one thrilling experience. The study also helps us to appreciate the different cuisines that are there in the world. The study brings about peace and unity among people of diverse cultures since people appreciate and accept the different ways of life of people from different regions. Studying food and culture also leads to career opportunities for people desiring to work in the tourism sector. Folklore is the traditional beliefs, the customs and legends of different people in the world. Through the folklorist, people get knowledge of the different customs of different people. Through this, people get to understand of why people practice certain traditions. This enables people mostly tourists to understand and appreciate the way of life of different people.

Few years back, I went on a tourist expedition to Africa. The precise destination was Kenya. In Kenya, I learnt that there were forty-two different tribes each with diverse beliefs and culture. During the trip, in the Amboseli National Park, I met the Maasai people and got to experience their culture. Their cuisine consisted mainly of nyama choma (grilled meat). That was the best-grilled meat I ever ate. I also sampled the mursik, which is a mixture of co blood and milk. The mursik had a funny taste but later on, I learnt that it had many health benefits such as cleaning the body system. The next stop was the Kenyan coast where I learnt about the Swahili culture. The Swahili people had cuisine of rice, coconut and other natural vegetables. This expedition was fun and educative.
