| Use essay format (introduction, body – typically 3 or more paragraphs, and conclusion) and proper grammar and usage to explain why economies grow. This subject is explained very well in your textbook, and the textbook should be your first and best resource. You should be able to write most of the essay using only your textbook. As always, you may use outside sources not listed here. If you do, cite them. In your conclusion paragraph, comment on the following information. In his 2015 State of the Union address, President Obama endorsed a plan to make community college free for many students. Additionally, early in his presidency he had promised to decrease taxes (see chapter 7/8 for effect of decreased taxes) on capital gains but has recently endorsed a plan to increase capital gains taxes. According to your textbook, will the education and tax plans help or hurt the economy in the long run? Explain. Use information in your textbook and the following articles to back your opinion.
Caution: Do not copy long passages from the textbook or other resources. If you do copy something from the textbook, place it in quote marks and list the page number after the quote. If it is not in quote marks, that is plagiarism which carries a stiff penalty – a zero for the assignment and a notification to the dean.
