On its Diversity and Health website page (http://www.health.vic.gov.au/diversity/) the Department of Health discusses ways for supporting accessible and appropriate health care services for all Victorians.

• Refugee and asylum seeker health
As well as peak bodies, such as:
• Action on disability within ethnic communities (ADEC)
• Centre for Cultural Ethnicity and Health (CEH)
• Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY)
• Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV)
Students are examine one of the key categories or peak bodies/initiatives listed on the website in relation to the following questions:
1. Describe the cohort associated with the category/organisation.
2. Why is the cohort considered ‘at-risk’ of poorer health outcomes than other Victorians?
3. What are the proposed strategies to improve health outcomes?
4. Review at least three (3) relevant peer-reviewed journal articles and critically analyse whether the proposed strategies would be/are effective or not. Further references are encouraged, including reports, to demonstrate wider reading.
