Synthesis Essay: A synthesis essay draws on multiple resources, requires you to determine the relationship between the material, and then to cohesively put the material from different resources together in a logical manner that thoroughly describes the topic.
a. Topic: Building upon your first paper, you will now choose two (2) countries of different governing types (you can use the country from your position paper) and discuss one issue that both countries are currently facing (this can be the same issue from your first paper). You will discuss the country’s government type and how the government type plays a role in how the issue is approached/handled. This is not a compare/contrast but merely an informative paper where you are looking seriously at both countries and how they are facing this issue. You will be able to speak of some differences/similarities but I want you to synthesis the information into a coherent paper. b. Requirements: ii. MLA format is required (this includes a works cited page & IN-TEXT citations! A proper header and title must also be used.) iii. Scholarly sources/Peer reviewed sources are required. Wikipedia, about.com, and other non-scholarly resources are not acceptable. Utilize the Library’s database: http://lynn-library.libguides.com/articles_databases and make sure you click on Peer/Scholarly reviewed sources on the left hand side of the screen. iv. Grading rubric is on iTunes U & livetext.com v. THIS MUST BE A NEW PAPER! You can use any information from your position paper but you must be able to use a point by point method of paper writing. This means you do not just add the new country at the end of your last paper…you must synthesis all information into one coherent paper. VI. intext citations MLA style. (last name, page #, paragraph # etc…) To be chosen from: Jordan ( queen Rania as a feminist and what she’s doing) What they are doing? the new information is to be included within the old essay and not just at the beginning or end of the paper . |
