• A written description of the agency (no more than 5 type-written pages including title page and references) should include the following:
1. The web site, if available, should be visited, summarized, and critiqued. How would you change the site to improve the information available? If there is not a website, then as a nurse and potential consumer, what information would you expect to be on the site? Show evidence of analysis.
2. An interview with a key informant should be done and summarized. Provide the name, address and phone number of the contact person. The interview should not be referenced, but do cite in text.
3. The population served by this agency should be identified, preferably with statistical evidence. An interview with one client may be done to evaluate the consumer’s perspective.
5. An organizational outline should be obtained, if available. Who is employed? What is the role of the various health care providers, especially the nurse? What type of organizational structure is used? Is this the best structure for this organization?
6. Is the agency private or volunteer? How is the agency funded (federal, state, foundations, grants, private, etc.)? Does politics determine funding or survival? How is the community involved in this agency?
7. Describe how technology is used at this agency? What would be the ideal use of technology? Evaluate the agency and suggest improvements in technology.
8. Does this agency adequately serve its targeted population? Evaluate the quality of the agency from your perspective as a health care provider and as a consumer. Imagine yourself as a recipient of care from this agency and list services that you would like this agency to provide. What would be the best use of nursing economically in this agency?
