Methods
Subjects
The subjects of the experiment were composed of children, their parents and teachers. The children who are to take part in this experiment were experiencing learning disabilities. The parents were involved in this experiment as they were the first ones to detect the disability in the children. The experiment was performed to children as they grow up and on to when the child begins to attend classes. The children who participated in this experiment were from different states.
Materials
The research was based on a survey on when the children began to develop their learning disability. This was more possible when the child is growing up and the parent is usually the first one to notice this. The survey was also conducted in class with the help of the teacher who will notice when signs of a child taking long to understand a particular subject. Tests were similarly done to determine the type of learning disabilities the child was experiencing which would determine the type treatment to be administered.
Experiment
A survey was performed on children before the start of the study parents with children from various states were surveyed. The parents and teachers inclusive filled forms that was able to verify that the child participated in the study that involved the personal details of the child, the parent and the teacher. There was no form of motivation that was offered in the study for the participants, the survey was at the participants own free will.
The study began by assessing the parents on several aspects relating to the child. The assessment involved questions like when the parent began to notice the signs of learning disability. Such signs involved the child’s development in speech, and their level of organization. The teacher was similarly assessed on when the child began attending classes and the length of time the child took to understand a certain subject. The signs of the child in class varied from the development in speech as from when they first attended class as well as their efficient use of language, their academic skills and their level of attention in class as well as organization.
The experiment was also able to perform tests of its own to determine how extensive the disorders noted went. Several treatments were also administered to children that involved visiting a psychologist, enrolling in special classes with the help of teachers who are to offer more attention to attention and the children were also encouraged to have interactions with other children with and without the learning disabilities as this would go far to help them to improve their self-help skills.
Results
The experiment was able to able to determine that most children displayed certain aspects disabilities. Though this varied from one child to another that was dependent on the neighborhood they are brought up in. Some children from the well-developed neighborhoods had no aspect of learning disability, while their counterparts in the poorly brought up neighborhoods had extensive levels learning disorders.
Discussions
The children from the less developed neighborhoods had large numbers of children with learning disabilities, considering their interactions with many children who do not go to school and broken down families. These children hence adapted to this lack of good bringing up and developed these traits. On the other hand children who were brought up in more developed neighborhoods with stable families experienced no or mild levels of learning disabilities.
