PreK-12 Comprehensive Program for Advising, Counseling, and Guidance Services
• In your school district, interview individuals who are knowledgeable regarding the elementary school, middle school, and high school Advising, Counseling, and Guidance Services available to students.
• In another school district, interview individuals who are knowledgeable regarding the elementary school, middle school, and high school Advising, Counseling, and Guidance Services available to students.
• Write a four to six page paper. Include the following in this paper:
a. Compare the types of programs and services offered to PreK-12 students in the two school districts. Remember to include the following for EACH district: elementary school, middle school, and high school programs and services.
b. Specify the percentage of time the counselors in EACH district spend with students on the following: scheduling, advising, and teaching.
c. Discuss how counselors in EACH district assist with a safe, orderly school environment.
d. Discuss your Ideal PreK-12 Advising, Counseling, and Guidance Program in detail. You must present your Ideal Program prior to displaying it in a matrix.
e. Then display your PreK-12 Ideal Program in a matrix. A sample matrix is located in your Course Directions.
Start your interviews now with each school district. Be sure to interview counselors in elementary school, middle school, and high school for two school districts.
