A BALANCED ENERGY POLICY PORTFOLIO

RE: A BALANCED ENERGY POLICY PORTFOLIO
A period of self-inflicted economic wounds and political strains has had a negative impact on the optimism of Americans. It is only a section of the children in America believe that they live a better life. China has made more progress than America. There is fear that the economic crisis will put us in dipper debt.
US is sliding in global competition and the big institution that were once thriving are now faltering and take the lead in growing markets for clean energy. Our economy is not creating enough jobs to drop unemployment levels to a low. The debts in the government are quite high, considering the need to elevate the level of infrastructure. Our environment is slowly getting depleted through the varied gas emissions which are taking place in the country.
There is no doubt that the common American person is willing to play their part. What remains of concern is whether the political class is willing to its part (Progressive Policy Institute, Januar y 2011). A certain section of the political class is showing signs of being patronizing and this is quite discouraging to some of us in the justice system – it brings forth the thought that the only way to solve a problem is to blame another party for everything that has turned on a negative path.
Mr. President, this a great chance for you to rise above this petty politics and patronage, and drive the country a rigid and complicated phases that are needed to bring about national economic growth. Your aim and message to the common American person should be quite clear and to the point; it’s time to get the country on its toes again. It’s time to acquire great concepts that would be able to drive the country to success, away from the political squabbles.
In this Memo, the justice system offers some ideas that are aimed at recreating America’s economic strength through your proposed Energy Policy.
The energy sector of the United States has expanded in the whole world for varied reasons. Since time in the past, there have been revitalized interests as well as new production is coming into being. Several world happenings like upheavals in other countries like Nigeria have brought about several variations in the supply and cost of oil which brings about varied challenges to other consuming countries. The reserves of oil found in the Gulf Coast in Louisiana and Texas are at a high of 638 million barrels and we are filling it rapidly. The reserve is you the present in the case of national or supply emergency situation and to meet our responsibilities to our treaty partners most of which are in Europe.
The situation is very contrasting in reference to our supplies and natural gas, most of which come from North America. About, 86 percent of 23 trillion cubic feet of gas we guzzle annually originates from the lower 48 states and Alaska.
There has been much debate in the government, industry as well as the public and the way we are able to increase our production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that adds a certain level to our domestic gas production. We have presently several terminals which are in operation in several states and receive LNG from other countries like Nigeria, Qatar among others.
The congress recently failed to pass an all-inclusive energy and climate legislation. This has made the United States policy to become adrift with no vivid direction or idea for how we are to acquire our energy desires. As a beginning point for that meeting that desire, the country requires some knowledge of what intention should be for an energy mix which will play a vital role in meeting our nation’s interests in the next three years to come (Kemp, January 2012). It is through this structure that out precise trade-offs and policy options would be guided and therefore make it possible to register advancement on the path to a clean energy economy.
The disaster that happened at the Gulf of Mexico shows that our country has an energy that is not right. As the country looks to resolve the significant and extensive matters on global climate change as well as the desire to elevate energy independence as well as our desire to motivate the economy to develop a rigid security job growth. Other states are thriving in the creation of modern energy systems which bring about proper employment and high level of certainty for the coming times (Johnson, Sept 2010). What stands to be quite different between our country and the others is that they have a well-defined energy policy that is supported by industrial policy as well as the environmental policy. This is reliant on rigid economics of governmental control of the mode of production that make it possible to select the preferred policy than our country.
Notwithstanding this complicated situations that are found in a democratic system which is polarized by several aspects, our political class and policymakers should offer a vivid Federal policy that helps to safeguard our energy and economic future if in any case we are to sustain our competitive position globally. The policy has to be inclusive with varied choices as they are accessible, which are able to create an economic environmental and national security sense, as well as it should have sufficient transparency and backing to make it possible for the private sector to invest in a well-balanced energy policy.
I specifically propose a national balanced energy Portfolio with is intended to meet a fuel mix distributed into three parts as we approach 2040: one part of our three fuel mix would be focused on electricity produced by the renewable resources; the second third would be dwelled on nuclear power while the last third would be focused on fossil fuels. This method takes into consideration that considering that our application of clean energy should be extensively elevated, the ability of renewable energy has not yet met the optimum ability for whole sale replacement of extra energy sources in the coming 27 years. It therefore calls that in the current time, we should be keener on controlling our present resources and technologies to bring the country closer to meeting both sustainable growths in the economic sector as well as responsible environmental stewardship.
A bigger part of this energy policy has to be global growth and the policy makers have to acquire this opportunity for our country to add on to the proven track record as well as the forthcoming advantages of nuclear energy (Andersen, December 9, 2011). The desire for nuclear energy is becoming high. The decisions that we make for our country in the coming period will have a major impact and likely change impact on the manner in which our country operates and customers as well as business people apply and pay for electricity and other energy elements.
It is through the creation of this realistic objective framework with a balanced Energy Portfolio that we are able to have a genuine discussion concerning our energy’s forthcoming times ahead and be more concerned on the precise policies which are significant to make this objective realistic. This technique pairs and does substitute other proposals that have been made for instance; carbon pricing or acquisition of Clean Energy Standards that has the set the minimum limit for states and utilities to put to application low-carbon creation and new natural gas resources which are applied to substitute of advanced years coal plants. And considering any convincing strategy to limit greenhouse emissions at this point in time has to involve a relatively solid backing for nuclear power, we call on the Congress as well as the administration to make haste in the evaluation of the applications for other reactors and sort out the inter-agency controversy and financing uncertainties for nuclear loan guarantees.
With the recent growing interest in nuclear power in our country, which once being less preferred, in the political scene, nuclear power is getting massive backing which would be able to increase your popularity (Ahearne, 2012). A good example is the United States Department of Energy which got backing from the congress, has been able to bring about a wide range of programs for examination on the nuclear technologies.
Through proper application of this extensive energy policy in the building of laws, regulations and incentives to develop investment, we will be in a good position to resolve several issues and bring about an age of energy security and success.
