Computer Literacy
Introduction
All transactions taking place in an organization involves a human to computer interaction. This goes from the high level section of the business to lower level of the organization. The systems that are involved in the organization are composed of an input and an output device. The input acquires information from the brain of the user to the computer, where hence there is an output that is achieved (Jacob). The future of the input devices is limited by imaginations and inventions.
Which input/output devices will you be using in the next one to three years as “computing” devices?
The input and output devices which will be used in the next three or so years are devices like microphones, electronic whiteboard, video and audio cards, pen input, digitizer, stylus, touch screen, light pen, LCD projection panels, optical memory card, RAID, smart card and memory button among others.
Which features/components/form factors will be prominent? Why?
The features that will be prominent in the advancing input devices are that the input devices will depend more on our body parts like the eyes, head, hands, body and words. A way of predicting the future of the input devices is focus at the features of the up coming computers (quest). The future looks to incorporate smaller computers; this feature will drive the design and innovations.
Which features/components/form factors will be important to you? Why?
The features that will be important to me are the ones that involve body movements are so the eye scanners, hands, body and words as well as the PDAs. Considering the similarly level of advancement in security related cases, such technologies are necessary to detect intruders. The input and output devices are the methods applied by intruders to access important information.
Which applications will you be using on these devices?
PDAs are able to provide a wide range of application software like word processing, spreadsheet, personal finance and games. The type of input device used on the PDA is the stylus. The stylus is look like a pen, though applies pressure rather than ink.
How may these devices change your life in terms of benefits and risks
These devices will change my life considering security; stringent measures should all the same be taken into consideration as even identity theft continues to become a rising concern. The PDA will come in handy when keeping me organized in respect to time and place.
Do you think the law should allow these kinds of creative expressions? Why?
The copyrights should not allow this kind of remixes as the rights bestowed to the music owners will be infringed and may consequently lead to them not acquiring any profit from their work. The creator of these expressions eats into another person’s hard work.
How can creative culture of user generated content be revived? Why is it important? Or not?
Such aspects of creativity can be well advanced if there are agreed terms with the music owners so that both sections are able to benefit and not kill any side. This is necessary as to advance both sides, suppressing one side may as well be advancing job loss and increased copyright infringements.
Is Creative Commons good for copyright holders and market competition? Why? Or not?
Creative commons is not only good for copyright owners, but it is also forms part of their income. The copyright laws provide laws that aim to protect the work of an individual and if there is any intention to use someone’s work, consent has to be issued. Market competition is necessary in the creative commons so as to up keep the business status; there will be constant advancements as a result of this.
How should these intellectual property rights of people who create images, videos, and music be protected? Why is it necessary?
The intellectual property can be protected through trade secret protection, copyrights, patents, and trademarks. Any violations are to be met with strict punishments like imprisonment and also paying the offended including other tough measures. This is necessary as it will scare off any offender from attempting to do the same violation as well as scare other persons intending to do the same.
Should digital rights management (DRM) technologies be utilized? Why?
Digital rights management (DRM) technologies are measures that are used to control a person’s use with the media and hardware (FrontierFoundation, 2011). It is consequently necessary as it fights the copyright violation and ensures the safety of customers. It however should not be utilized as there is no evidence of what it has done to stop any infringement.
