Evaluation of Published Nutrition Information

According to the analysis of the early 1900, it was evident that the spread of pellagra was all over the United States on the southern region. The individuals infested by pellagra had the following symptoms diarrhea, a skin rash, and mental confusion. It was estimated that in all the years, thousands of Americans died from this dreaded illness. Majority of the medical experts had the perception that pellagra was a communicable disease because it was highly spreading in regions where individuals lived in nearby houses, for example, prisons, and mental health foundation. While investigating on the factors that led to the infection of pellagra, not all the individuals exposed to individuals suffering from pellagra developed similar conditions. Based on these results pellagra is not a communicable disease. After various experiments, it was proved that pellagra was a disease e that resulted due to nutritional deficiency.

A scientist referred as Goldenberg concluded based on his experiments that pellagra occurred because of lack of certain nutrients in the body of human beings. He concluded that the dietary aspect was comprised in meat, milk, and foods consumed by the financially stable people on a regular basis. To test his findings, the food was given to children in orphanages and patients of the mental hospital who suffered from pellagra, and eventually they were cured of the disease. in spite of the results of Goldberger’s research, majority of the group members of the medical program establishment rejected his results that deprived diet was the source of pellagra, and they persistently thought that pellagra was an infectious disease.

Currently, the idea of some nutrients being left out in certain diets results to nutritional deficiency. Several years ago, it was the idea of medical experts to dismiss the notion because they had the perception that diseases occurred due to infections by germs. Raw corn comprises of niacin that is in a form the body cannot digest. The consumption of meat and milk helps an individual to prevent pellagra because these meals comprise of tryptophan, a constituent of proteins can be renovate to niacin by the body. According to the analysis of the mid 1950s, the medical community accepted that peptic ulcers were because of stress and poor diet. Eventually, it was concluded that the presence of a certain type of bacteria able of living in the human stomachs was responsible of various chronic ailment in the human stomach. After a couple of years, the medical professionals accepted that the bacterium depicted as the Helicobacter pylori was a chief source of peptic ulcers. Currently, individuals have the perception that when they test positive of the Helicobacter pylori in their stomachs they can be treated with antibiotics that kill the bacterium.

Scientists have come up with various arguments against the standardized methods of obtaining answers that concern various nutritional defects. Dietitians and other nutrition experts reject the convectional beliefs and practice that result due to the scientific research of nutritional defects. The data by nutritionists relies on the scientific methods ma through hypothesis, performance of tests and the analysis of data. After analyzing data, that is when the researchers draw conclusions of the thesis of the nutritional facts. In various dimensions, researchers have taken the initiative of performing various acts such as determining the specific dietary renovations on a given type of people through the schedule created by their experimental groups and the outcome of the intervention examined for a long period.

Data organized from different groups is compared in populations that have similar qualities and those that have no recommendations on the control group in a given period. It is evident that if the data provided indicates that health of treatment is diverse from the health of the control group; researchers are expected to link the differences of their interventions. Through the analysis of the diversion of the dietary problems and disease occurrences among individuals, epidemiologists have take the initiative of developing various health disorders compared to other groups creating the difference.
