Imagine that you are producer of feature films and television programmes.
You have a friend who worked as an assistant to a well – known celebrity. Your friend had an argument with the celebrity about six months ago and was fired. Now she tells you that she has written a manuscript for a book based on her experience, which she hopes will be accepted by a publisher for publication.
Your friend asks you if you would be interested making a film or television programme based on her manuscript. You read it. While there is a lot of information in it which you knew already (from reading newspapers and magazines) you are amazed to discover that, despite the celebrity`s carefully cultivated image as a loveable family entertainer, behind closed doors he is a drug-taking Satanist with a penchant for extreme and unsafe sexual parties.
What legal and deal issues would you have to consider if you decided to make a film or television programme based on the manuscript?
