Sister Act

Sister Act
Sociology is the study of human society and their actions. It aims at discovering what human ideas are and how they relate to others. The main character in this movie is Deloris. She gets into a personal trouble with her ex boyfriend. This is because she witnesses him killing one of his chauffer. This is a form of individual discrimination. She goes to a local police to report the crime and that her life is in danger. The police decide to hide Deloris in a Roman Catholic Church until when it is safe enough for the protagonist to testify what she saw. She is taken in as a nun and given the name sister Mary Clarence. She objects living according to nunnery way of life. This is contrary to what society expects for a nun like her.
In this movie Sister Mary gets a life chance to prove she can be a choir master. She does it well to extend that it becomes a public issue and attracts many people among them John pop. She does not take into consideration the laws of being a nun. In a sociological perspective, this is not right. Disguising herself to be a nun is for her own personal benefit. She is supposed to acquire values that help her co-exist with nuns. The social environment presented to her is tough. She sneaks out at night to go to a nearby bar. She cannot cope with some simple rules. She has to play the role of a nun but it differs from the other social category. After sneaking, her Reverend punishes her by making her the Choir director. In this part, she does it excellently and transforms secular music into gospel.
The police using the Church as a hiding place is contrary to society normal life. The church should get respect. The attitude and habit she brings into church affects the nuns. The negative aspect in this context is rebellion from Sister Mary, which cannot be justified. Deloris does not show any respect for the covenant rules. The positive part is that she rejuvenates the dreadful choir.
