In a well written essay, discuss the major change that occurs in the novel. Here is a suggested format for your paper. In your first paragraph, begin with a few sentences of general introduction to the book. General subject matter of the book, important information about the book or author, or generalizations about the book constitute appropriate subject matter for these sentences. Then, begin to narrow your focus by discussing the change or changes that take place in the book. Make the major change your thesis sentence. Conclude your first paragraph by explaining that the remainder of the paper will guide the reader through the evolution of the major change. You may use this exact language. In the next 3 paragraphs, identify 3 causes of the major change. Treat each cause in a separate paragraph. For each cause, give the details of the cause and why this is having such an impact on the change. Use concrete details and use at least one quotation (with MLA citation) for each cause or paragraph. Your challenge here will be to explain the cause in detail without getting bogged down in re-telling the story. You may assume I have read the book or am at least familiar enough with the plot to understand the narrative’s movement. Finally, write a concluding paragraph. This paragraph should restate your thesis and conclude with a few sentences evaluating the book. Avoid such useless phrases as “This was the best book ever” or “The book was totally boring.”
