The Power of Communication
Introduction
Communication is the act of transmitting evocative information from one person to another or between places. For communication to be effective there must be a sender and a recipient (Guffey & Almonte, 2009). Of note is that communication is quite crucial in every aspect of life due to the active role it plays. It is communication that helps in spreading the visions and ideas of a country, an organization to the deserving individuals. Additionally, communication assists in transmitting means and offer harmonization. It helps people in expressing, spreading, networking and sharing their ideas and feelings. Moreover, missions, visions and goals are accomplished through communication. It is worth noting that the modern technologies have brought in reasonable, innovative and efficient means of communication.
Let us acknowledge the introduction of recent social network websites which have evidently changed the world positively in social, economic and political aspects. They have innovatively helped in solving issues and events and bringing crucial news to the world. Let us focus on the 2009 Iranian controversial elections which lead to public uproar (Grossman, 2009). What made the matters worse was the ban of free press thereby prompting two major social networks website, facebook and twitter, to come up with creative and innovative strategies to let the voices and uproar of the people of Iran be heard across the globe. Major Powers such as USA relied on the information transmitted through twitter upon which they sought for strategies to intervene in solving the election skirmishes (Grossman, 2009). From this event these social networks have positively revolutionized the world through allowing free speech.
Reflection
The world has extensively changed due to introduction of modern technologies in every aspect of life. Communication has predominately benefited from these notable technologies. The use of modern technologies such laptops, mobile phones to mention but a few will help me a great deal in my academic work( Mirabito & Morgenstern,2004) . Through the use of internet I will be able to accomplish my academic goals in the sense that the use of internet will extensively help me in my research work and other assignments. It is a good strategy that will help in saving time thereby enhancing academic productivity. Remember that time has become a major factor in today’s society. These technologies will help in time management, in enhancing social change and at the same time in meeting my personal goals. They will also help in developing my career and professional goals in the sense that they will assist me in organizing my time, my duties, work schedules and more importantly help in establishing a favorable work environment enhanced through good communication skills. Through modern technologies, I will gain creative insights and technological competence (Guffey & Almonte, 2009). Precisely, modern communication technologies will help me in gaining creative expression as well as in pursing professional growth through exploration of my personal and professional goals and interests
Through the modern technologies, I will be in a position to gain access to the events taking place in my community as well as in the entire world. Through internet connectivity and social networks websites, I will be in a position to access global issues. Modern technologies are extensively used in acquiring information as well as in delivering development ambitions (Mirabito & Morgenstern, 2004). With this in mind, I will use this technology in raising evident issues that are affecting our society. While I may not have the strength of carrying out major activities to ensure social responsibility, raising major issues through these technologies such as social networking websites, emails, instant text software and website will surely help in creating impact to the society no matter how small it may be.
Communication is the heart of success. Good communication skills are essential in every aspect of life, in schools, homes as well as in workplaces. It is through modern educational technology that I will be able to establish and develop my career goals. Additionally, communication helps in fulfilling ones missions and goals. It also opens up channels of opportunities in life. From this notion, I will be able to ascertain my abilities and at the same time utilize my abilities for the purpose of goals and objectives achievement. Therefore, with good communication skills and technology competency, I will be able to effectively seek for loopholes in the job market for a career that will help me meet my personal goals. Through superlative communication, I will enhance my creativity and innovation in order to achieve academic excellence, professional excellence and enhance my social life thereby creating an positive impact to the society
Walden’s University, vision, mission and goals are rational. At Walden University comprehension is only judged through the manner in which it is applied and not through papers. Students are required to apply their acquired knowledge in solving serious social issues. This relates to my personal goals of impacting the society in a positive way through a sense of social responsibility. The mission of the university is to provide professionals who have the ability to enhance social change. Similarly, my professional goal is to ensure professional excellence which will subsequently help me in promoting social change. Producing graduates who promotes social change, providing education that supports critical thinking, research and discovery and more essentially providing education that results to quality and integrity are some of the notable goals at Walden’s. Seemingly, my academic goals are to ensure academic excellence through utilization of educational opportunities thereby leading to enhanced abilities and skills which will subsequently help in achieving my dream career. With increasing changes in communication instigated by technology advancement, the world is gradually changing and so is our ways of life (Mirabito & Morgenstern, 2004). While my goals will not change, there will always be room for improvement with technology advancement for a better and positive social change.
