ECN 341: International Economics Spring 2015
General requirements
1) The topic of the paper should be related to a topic in International trade. 2) The paper should be between 2500-2700 words.
3) The paper is due on April 23rd.
Approaches to writing the paper
Through this paper, students are expected to gain a better understanding of different issues in International trade and economics.
Students can write their papers using the following approaches
i) Students can write about Free trade agreements (example: Free trade agreements between two nations). One can write a paper on the different aspects of that trade agreement. Eg. How the trade agreement might impact the different factors of productions in each country, who will most likely gain from trade etc.
ii) Students can also look at existing trade relations between two nations and do an empirical analysis of the trade relation. For example, they can look at trade data for the last 10 years and integrate the flow of trade between these two countries with the different trade theories that have been taught in the class.
iii) Students can also look at issues, which are more general in nature. (issues relating to environment and trade, development and trade). Students can analyse how trade may affect these general issues positively or negatively.
Please note the above mentioned points are only suggestions. Every student is required to get their topic approved by March 2nd.
Instructions.
i) The paper should have an introduction, middle and a conclusion. The introduction of the paper should include the aim of the paper.
ii) Students are expected to look up different peer reviewed articles, book chapters, and websites (WTO, IMF, World Bank, or government websites) to collect information on their topics.

iv) Students are expected to have a bibliography at the end of the paper.
v) Students are expected to do a fair amount of research on their topics and be
well aware of their topics.
