”What’s the role of language in a person’s national identity?”

Topic: We’ve discussed the influence of America in other cultures and the influence of other cultures in America. For this assignment, we will go deeper into the part that language plays in acculturation. In this assignment, you will show how your own perspective interacts with the texts you read. The guiding question will be: ”What’s the role of language in a person’s national identity?” The assignment: Here are some ideas to consider: Tan talks about how her language and her mother’s language affected her life. How is her experience similar or different to the experiences of other foreign speakers? How do these experiences relate to how Baron characterizes global English? How do these experiences confirm or contradict the ideas of acculturation presented by de la Gaarde or Rodriguez? Speculate. How do you think Tan would respond to Baron and vice-versa? And how would Tan and Baron respond to de la Gaarde or Rodriguez? Is Global English a form of americanization or a way to resist it? Rodriguez talks about race and ethnicity, but what role does language play in his picture? -Make sure your first paragraph introduces the project you are undertaking. For example, what are the issues that you will raise in your essay. -You must cite Baron, Tan, and at least one more text. You can choose whether to use de la Gaarde, Rodriguez, or both. -Length: 3-4 pages Here are a few points to keep in mind: • Your text should be a like conversation between the readings and your own ideas. • Do not just state your own ideas and examples. Specify how your ideas relate to the texts, and how the texts relate to each other. • Remember to quote, paraphrase, and summarize the texts, but do not just talk about the texts. Make a clear link between the texts and YOUR ideas.

I’ve ordered an essay before and it was terrible. I got a lot of negative comments from my professor. I will attach the word doc with my professors comments on the side. I hope you can make it way better and impress the professor.
