Question 1

Conflict has made many schools in Pakistani to be demolished.  Reports have indicated that Taliban threatened displaced families with violence if they send their girls to school. However, there is still a chance of improving education of girls and women. This is because it is still possible for girls and women who have not accessed education in their respective countries to start improving their education status in foreign countries. When displaced families get new freedom, they are able to get educational services from civil society and support groups from the foreign governments (Latif, 2011).

Pakistani girls and women who are getting education are now in a better position to sustain their families and communities unlike previously when there was opposition towards education of the girl-child. In my opinion, I would suggest that appropriate education plans should be put in place to facilitate girl child education. The Pakistani government should partner with natives so as to enhance education of girl child. It also advisable for rescue centers to be put up in hostile places so as to increase the capacity of schools and admission of girls and women. Mechanism should also be put in place to ensure that long-term solution to the current conflict is found so as to boost the socio-economic status of the population.

Question 2

Celebrities have high influence towards shaping human behavior especially with regards to matters of global poverty. This has been achieved through generous contribution and raising of funds for the needy. Most of the celebrities have been attracted by various poverty cases in Africa for quite a long time. Celebrities have been able to use their fame to access those in power, to raise a significant amount of money to help support the vulnerable groups such as the poor and the sick. Their ability to attract the attention of people has enabled them to focus towards helping the needy.

On September 28, 2013, a group of musicians met together at the United Nations General Assembly in New York to raise awareness and take actions aimed at ending extreme poverty. The project aim was to ensure that every child goes to school as well as fund the training and deployment of Community Health Workers in the global world. The project was also aimed at making equality of girls and women a global priority and also to support public and private partnerships committed to achieve the millennium goal of eradicating poverty by 2030 (PR Newswire, 2013)

                                                               Question 3

The European Community, Intergovernmental Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations should support counter-piracy missions by providing humanitarian assistance to Somalia to neutralize the root causes of piracy. They should support Somalia in poverty eradication and help to promote peace in their nation. They should also support the shipping industry with advice on self-protection measures on how to avoid pirate attacks, and through government guidelines on the use of armed guards.

I suggest that the EC and other supporting government agencies increases the efficiency of identifying pirate ships and allow naval forces to arrest pirates and deliver them for prosecution and punishment. The European Community should continue to work hand in hand with the international community to provide humanitarian and development assistance. This will help deal with the underlying causes of piracy (Chalk, 2009).

Question 4

The principle of political realism can be applied by IGOs, NGOs, or transnational advocacy networks in view of international politics. This requires principal actors to consider international issues between states, which are concerned with their own security, act in pursuit of their own national interests and struggle for power. However the negative side of the realists’ emphasis on power and self-interest is manifested in their skepticism regarding the relevance of ethical norms to relations among states (Donnelly, 2000).

NGO, transnational advocacy and IGO can influence international politics through establishing of international norms and political declaration. The informal political declarations and norms established by NGO, transnational advocacy and IGO can then be publicized so as to be able to acquire formal political declarations and norms between different countries. This can be facilitated by NGO, transnational advocacy and IGO acting as watchdog and monitoring the progress of established international norms. This will ensure that the established norms are applied in accordance to the spirits and reasons of their establishment.
